IADES encourages deaf women to aspire towards higher education and to strive for excellence in their academic endeavors.

Since 1989, the IADES Endowment Fund (IEF) has been granting annual fellowship awards for deaf women who are pursing their Ph.D. or a terminal degree.

The Dr. Betty G. Miller Fellowship Award is awarded on an annual basis in honor of a loyal member of the Delta Epsilon Sorority and the first woman graduate of Gallaudet University to attain her Ph.D. This award may be given to a deserving alumna of the Delta Epsilon Sorority who meets the application requirements.

The IADES Fellowship Award is awarded to deserving deaf women who are non-DE members.

The IEF Committee also oversees the Ausma Smits Leadership award and other recognition awards in honor of our four founders in different categories

The IADES endowment fund has been put on hold until further notice, and this includes the IADES Fellowship award for 2023.

We aim to announce fellowship awards in the Spring of 2024.  Please be on the outlook for further information regarding this award.
